You see the future so clearly. You are an innovator. But to create the change you want to see in the world, you must acquire exceptional communications skills.
If you can’t make yourself heard above the market's noise and chaos, you can’t hire a great team, forge strong bonds with customers, outplay your competition or lead your market with a powerful point of view. But if you can communicate, you can do all of the above.
There are six things that every great communicator masters. You can too!
One: You have a truly provocative, useful idea. What do you uniquely see in the world? What are you uniquely doing about it? Those insights are the core of your idea.
Two: You tell powerful stories. Stories make your audience feel something, help them remember what’s essential and percolate in their minds long after your talk is over.
Three: Your talk is a gift, not a performance. You know that it’s always about your audience, not you. What do they need? How does hearing you serve them?
Four: You understand your audience’s world. You use their language, you address their concerns, you are aware of their constraints, you spark their hopes.
Five: You remember that your body is giving the presentation. You sleep, you eat, you hydrate, you prepare your body to give you strength on the keynote stage, in the boardroom, in a tense customer conversation.
Six: You don’t wing it. You practice. You prepare for worst case scenarios. You practice again. And again.
